Williamsburg Inn Receives Forbes Travel Guide 2018 Five-Star Award
October 27, 2018
Kollin Altomare’s resort-wide redesign helped the historic Williamsburg Inn in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia earn a Five-Star Award and place on Forbes Travel Guide’s inaugural Verified List of the world’s most luxurious hotels in 2018!

Congratulations to The Colonial Williamsburg Company, Geller Investment Company, and special thanks to our partners:  Faithful Gould - Project Manager; EDSA - Landscape Architect; Puccini Group - Interior Designer; Next Step Design - Food Service Design; Clancy & Theys - General Contractor; TLC - MEP Engineer; VHB - Civil Engineer; and Siska Aurand - Aquatics Designer.

John D. Rockefeller Jr. opened Williamsburg Inn in 1937, as Virginia’s Colonial Williamsburg was being restored to its 18th-century era. Situated across the street from the historic downtown, the hotel is steeped in the Regency style of early-19th-century England with large columns, iron railings and a portico entrance, a contrast to the predominantly simple colonial architecture of Williamsburg.

Totally reimagining a guest’s approach to this historic inn, Kollin Altomare set the stage with a breathtaking, new reflecting pool at the property’s entry. Then, mindful of its classic elegance and sophistication, the design approach incorporated a refined blend of traditional colonial charm and luxurious modern accommodations. Existing structures were expanded to created new private event spaces that now include a stunning outdoor bar, fire pit lounge, picturesque fountain, and more family-friendly, outdoor pool/deck area.
