Highlights from the 2019 Lodging Conference
At the Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort, Arizona
September 30, 2019
We enjoyed another year of participation at The Lodging Conference, including sponsorship of this year's golf tournament, held at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort in Arizona on September 23-26, 2019. Our Michael Kollin and Michael Dalezman attended this sell-out hotel industry event attended by over 2,000 hospitality industry professionals from around the globe.
Now in its 24th year, The Lodging Conference brings together the hotel industry's owners, operators, presidents, CEOs and dealmakers to strategize about development, finance, franchising, management, construction, design, and operations. With three days of networking including dinner parties, extended refreshment breaks, breakfasts, luncheons, golf and other leisure activities, it's more than just a conference, the entire event is a "think tank" where everybody in attendance has the opportunity to join in the conversation, discuss issues, and solve problems.
Key take-aways: We heard from some great speakers, including Bernard Baumohl of The Economic Outlook Group, who stated, “We see no signs of a recession in the next two years.” Arne M. Sorenson, President and CEO of Marriott International, Inc. said, "The best trend going for the hotel industry right now is that people want to travel. This trend has long term legs."
